A symposium titled "Civic Literacy in Our Classrooms" featured a presentation by Akhil Reed Amar, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale. Described in the New York Times as "a commendably unorthodox and, in some ways, iconoclastic constitutional scholar," Professor Amar earned a place among the top 20 contemporary US legal thinkers in a Legal Affairs poll. His work has been cited by the Justices of the US Supreme Court in more than 20 cases, and he has testified before Congress, appeared on the Colbert Report, and served as visiting faculty at Harvard, Columbia and Pepperdine Law Schools. His written works include America's Constitution: A Biography and America's Unwritten Constitution: The Precedents and Principles We Live By. View video of the May 4, 2013, symposium here.
